About The Weld Space.

The Weld Space was created to make welding education more accessible. What started as a passion for metalworking and furniture design has grown into one of the UK's leading providers of recreational welding education, helping beginners, DIY enthusiasts, and aspiring makers develop practical welding and fabrication skills.

Through a combination of hands-on workshops and flexible online learning, The Weld Space provides friendly, easy-to-understand instruction designed to build confidence and help learners tackle their own projects. Whether you're completely new to welding or looking to improve your skills, our courses provide the knowledge, techniques, and practical experience needed to make, repair, and create with metal.

If you join one of our in-person workshops, we'll provide all the equipment, materials, and expert instruction needed to help you get started with confidence.

If you choose to learn through The Weld Space Academy, you'll gain access to our online learning platform and AI Welding Coach. Trained using knowledge developed by The Weld Space, it can answer your questions, analyse your welds, provide feedback, and help you identify ways to improve your skills.

Welding is becoming an increasingly valuable and in-demand skill, and our goal is to make learning it as accessible, enjoyable, and effective as possible.

FAQs

How do I sign up to a course?

We handle our bookings via our website using a system called Stripe. When you find the date and course you want to join. “Click” Click here to book” and check out.

Can I cancel a booking.

Terms and conditions will apply at the time of booking. Ultimately we are flexible and want to make sure you can attend your course. We will always do our best to accommodate any unforeseen changes.

Is there parking on site?

Unfortunately, Alma Yard doesn’t have on site parking at the moment and the parking restrictions don’t allow you to park outside. There is pay and display parking at the Lockyers Quay or Barbican Harbour Car Park.

How many people attend each course?

We like to keep the teacher to learner ratio low so that the quality of our courses remain high. We have 5 welding bays available. Each person has there own welder, PPE and equipment for the day. A maximum group is 5 people per course.

Do I need to be familiar with welding?

No prior experience is required with metalwork or any other making discipline. Our courses are designed in a way that anyone can join them and learn to weld. All we ask is that you come with enthusiasm to learn.

I want to practise more?

For past course attendees we can make a welding bench available for you. You can hire a bench for half a day or a full day and make use of some of the machinery we have. Richard will be around to help through-out the day. Book a Bench Here.
