Learn to weld from Home
Membership only £9.99 per month
Helping beginners develop the skills and confidence to actually weld, repair, restore and build things for yourself
There’s plenty of free welding information online. Videos can show you how to weld, but they can't look at the weld you've just made and tell you what to improve.
As an Academy member, you don’t have to figure everything out on your own.
If you get stuck, ask the Virtual Coach for guidance or upload a photo of your weld and get feedback on what to work on next.
You’ll be asked to create an account before continuing to checkout.

The Welding Coach combines AI technology with expert welding knowledge developed through teaching hundreds of beginner welders in person.
For weld image analysis, we use a computer vision model that has achieved an accuracy rate of 77% in our testing. Like any AI system, it won't get everything right, so its feedback should be used as guidance to help you understand your weld and what to practise next.
The quality of the image matters too. Clear, well-lit photographs where the weld is easy to see will help the Coach provide more useful feedback.
The technology will continue to develop as we improve the Coach and the way it analyses welds.

You don't need a workshop full of expensive tools to start welding. At a minimum, you'll need a welder, suitable PPE, an angle grinder and some basic consumables.
If you're not sure what to buy, we've put together a recommended equipment list to help you choose suitable beginner-friendly equipment. We can also provide recommendations and access to discount codes on selected equipment.
One of the great things about learning to weld is that you can get started with a relatively small amount of equipment and add to your setup as your skills and projects develop.
-
Absolutely — YouTube is a great place to learn about welding. The challenge comes when you start practising yourself. A video can show you how to weld, but it can't look at the weld you've just made and tell you what to improve.
The Academy gives you a clear learning path through 16 modules and 80+ videos, taking you from beginner fundamentals through to more advanced welding skills, without having to piece together fragmented information from different sources.
