The Weld Space is the UK’s leading provider of recreational welding education. We have reimagined the way people learn to weld. Our mixture of in-person and online welding courses are aimed at those new to welding who are learning for leisure and not necessarily looking to gain a qualification to develop a career in welding.

Our online welding course will introduce you to the basics of the equipment, skills and knowledge so that you feel better informed about different welding processes and can safely and successfully operate the machines.

You don’t need to own a welding machine to start our online programme. We will explain the different types so that you are better informed about what is available. Which will save you time and money.

From there on, we provide an extensive curriculum which you can follow at home. Our curriculum will take you on a step by step guide through the processes involved in producing clean and tidy welds. Our programme addresses common pitfall and will help troubleshoot issues people face when learning to weld.

The Weld Space is an award-winning business and has taught hundreds of people to weld since our launch in May 2022. We understand the experience of those new to welding and know the common issues and problems faced as a learner. We have applied this knowledge and expertise into a digital course to reach more people.

Over 57 Lessons and Discussions will help introduce you to welding and fabrication. Our structured curriculum takes a beginner on a journey to explain, demonstrate and equip you with the information to begin your own welding projects.

  • This chapter includes 4 videos lessons that explain different types of Welding PPE that should and can be worn.

    You will learn about the different types of safety equipment. Some which is essential and others which are desirable.

  • Unsure where to start with machines and Proccesses.

    We will explain the 3 main welding processes and how they're different. By the end of these 5 Lessons you will know the difference between MMA, MIG and TIG.

Our programme is designed as an introductory course that inform you of the basics knowledge and skills required to get started. It is the first step to developing good welding skills. Practise is always key! With years of experience developed from teaching people to weld we have compiled the queries into an online resource for people to reference.

We offer two types of digital product our one-time purchase our Arc Start Programme which gives you on-going access to video content and resources. Then our subscription produce which provides you access to a weld coach and community.

recreational welder is anyone who is just welding to help complete a DIY project and not looking to build a career as a professional welder.

The Weld Space is a business design to provide education and resources to individuals who are learning to weld.

Our online products have a user friendly interface and as a result mean you don’t have to scroll hours of videos, listen to promotions or loose your place.

Your can finish a chapter, tick it off and go and practise. Depending on your product purchased you can also gain 1-2-1 feedback and advice from our welding coaches.

I don’t own a welder yet?

You don’t need to own a welder before you start the course. As the course will explain the processes and difference in the machines. This will help you decide which Welding process is for you.

This will hopefully save you time and money when you go and buy a machine.

The Weld Space is about welding for pleasure and recreational not for a job. You do not complete any pass or fail exams buying any online or in-person course from us.

Do I need other tools?

In order to get the best results from the programme you will need some of your own tools. This would include hand tools like a tape measure, square and scribe and powder tools like Angle Grinders.

Richard Evans 

The Weld Space emerged from Richard's career as a bespoke furniture maker, specializing in custom metal furniture. His original venture, RichCraft Furniture, still focuses on bringing people's ideas to life, with his creations now featured in London’s skyscrapers and hotels where his business first took off.

Richard has channeled his expertise in crafting unique metal pieces into The Weld Space, where he teaches others how to design, create, and finish their own metal projects.

Since its founding in May 2022, The Weld Space has taught hundreds of people the fundamentals of welding, using the three main processes: MIG, TIG, and MMA. Attracting DIYers, hobbyists, car builders including those looking to complete repairs and develop more practical skills. Our short-course format has become popular among recreational welders looking to learn under there own steam once they’ve got the basics.
