The Weld Space has experienced Welders familiar MMA, MIG and TIG Welding processes. As part of our growing services we are able to provide a welding repair service for metal components, engine parts, furniture, marine components for boats and more.

With multiple welding processes available, we can carry out repair work on Mild Steel, Aluminium and Stainless Steel.

Our retail metalwork repair service operates from our workshop in Plymouth City Centre. If you are based outside this area but willing to send or visit. We are more than happy to help.

What types of Weld Repairs:

Do you have some garden furniture that is rusty, broken and needs a new lease of life? You don’t want to throw it away. The Weld Space can probably help you. If you furniture is made from Mild Steel, Aluminium or Stainless Steel we have the machines available to fill that holes, re-join that leg or just make it a bit more robust.

Repairing Aluminium Engine Parts?

Are you restoring an classic car or engine. Have you noticed some cracks in the body work and worried it might not withstand the vibrations. We can carry out welding repairs on Aluminium car body or motorcycle parts using our TIG Welder. We can clean back, repair and replace lost material that allows you to re-tap holes and threads.

The Weld Space has a Workshop in Plymouth City Centre not too far from the Barbican. We can offer a walk-in metalwork repair service for small to medium sized parts whilst you wait. if you make an appointment before you arrive. Due to the bespoke nature of welding repairs it is easier for the customer to wait around whilst the repair is complete. This allows you to approve the repair work and provide direction to us.

Before turning up we highly advise you ring in advance or send an email with as much information as possible. We don’t mind you using WhatApp to send pictures over. This will allow us to see what we are working with saving you time and effort coming down if there is nothing we can do.

Depending on the material mixture - it is not always possible to repair everything. In modern day manufacturing, a lot of different materials are used to create items. Sometimes these manufacturing methods don’t suit themselves

Metal Material Cutting Service:

If you need some metal tube, scrap metal or lengths cut to size. The Weld Space has a metal chop saw that is able to cut up to 100mm x 100mm Box Sections. Cutting metal, scaffolding poles or bars to length is handwork, dangerous and time-consuming. Why not, drop by a workshop with better machinery that can make a clean and accurate cut.

At this moment, in time we don’t have a guillotine so are unable to cut sheet metal.

This service is charged pro-rata from £40.00 per hour.

Stainless Steel welding Repairs for Boats, Parts and Marine Industry:

With access to TIG Welders and expertise in working with marine grade Stainless Steel, We can efficiently carry out weld repairs to various boat parts that can be brought to our workshop. Items include; Stainless Steel Swim ladders, A-frames, boat rails, and Handles. Additionally, customers can have the option to opt for a polished finish if required, although this incurs an additional charge.

Repairing Cracked Car Alloys:

The Weld Space is pleased to offer repair services for a cracked alloy wheel, but please note that the tire must be removed before we can proceed with the repair.

Fortunately, we are conveniently located near several garages that can assist you with the tire removal. Once that is taken care of, simply wheel the alloy back over to us, and we will be more than happy to repair the crack using our TIG welders, ensuring that your alloy wheel is restored to its former glory.

What does a Weld Repair Cost?

Pricing weld repairs is always tricky but to keep things simple and providing we don’t have to buy anything. Repairs range from £40 - 60 per hour. We can give you can idea of how many hours a repair might take when you make an enquiry.

  • £40.00 - Repairs for Mild Steel when you leave it with us to repair in our own time.

  • £60.00 - Repairs for Aluminium, Stainless Steel and any repairs that is carried out whilst you wait. Advance booking is required.

  • Material Charge - If we have to buy material or use materials from our rack this will be charged additionally based on the current cost of material.

Pricing is always very hard to estimate. Please bar in mind, repair time is not just about welding the piece together. It includes the time it takes to repair excess material, prepare and finish the work.

Payment via Cash or Card.

(The minimum charge for welding repairs £40.00)

Cast Iron Repairs:

Unfortunately, we can’t carry out cast iron repairs.

Limitations of repairs service:

Although we would like to help everyone. Unfortunately, we are not able to carry out;

  • On-site repairs

  • On site repairs to structural metalwork,

  • Stainless Steel kitchen installations - Unless you can bring them to our workshop.

  • Leadwork for roofing.

  • A repair work is not aways pretty and will never last a lifetime but it will hopefully help extend the life of a product.
