5-Day Welding & Fabrication Course
Discover Welding Processes and Fabrication Skills
Develop your welding and fabrication skills over 5 practical days, with more time to learn, practise and build your own metal project.
This longer course introduces you to MIG, TIG and MMA welding, alongside fabrication, metal preparation and plasma cutting — before bringing your new skills together to create a product you chose to make.
What to expect
Over five days, you'll explore MIG, TIG and MMA welding in much greater depth, learning how each process works, how to set up the equipment and the techniques needed to start welding mild steel.
With more time to practise, experiment and develop your technique, you'll progress from basic welding exercises through to joinery and wider fabrication skills and learn about useful workshop tools like Plasma Cutters.
You'll then bring everything together by building a project, either from one of our existing designs or, where practical, something you've designed yourself.
What you’ll learn?
Throughout the week, you'll learn how to set up and use MIG, TIG and MMA welding equipment, understand the theory behind each process and develop the practical techniques required to weld mild steel.
You'll work with different forms and thicknesses of material, from box section through to sheet metal, while developing your understanding of preparation, welding joints, machine settings and troubleshooting.
Welding is only part of the fabrication process, so you'll also develop the skills needed to measure, mark out, prepare, cut, assemble and finish metal using workshop machinery, hand tools and angle grinders.
You'll also be introduced to plasma cutting, including equipment and compressor requirements, safe operation and freehand cutting techniques.
With five days available, there's plenty of opportunity to practise your skills, ask questions and build confidence before applying what you've learnt to your final project.
