This data is used to train our own AI model. Using computer vision — a form of artificial intelligence — it learns what to look for in the pixels of an image. It can then compare what it sees with known examples in its training data and recognise the characteristics and faults experienced welders look for.
We teach people to weld and see the real questions and common faults beginners experience.
Welds have visible characteristics — shape, consistency, bead size and common defects - Experienced welders learn to recognise these through years of training.

Designed for beginners, this course takes you from understanding how your MIG welder works to setting up your machine and producing your first welds.
You'll learn the essential techniques for welding mild steel, how to properly prepare your material and how to produce butt and fillet joints. You'll then put your skills into practice with practical exercises, including working with box section, building a 2D frame and repairing holes with a MIG welder.

You don't need a workshop full of expensive tools to start welding. At a minimum, you'll need a welder, suitable PPE, an angle grinder and some basic consumables.
